ABOUT

CAMRA LogoFormed in 1971 by four men disgruntled with the increasing bad quality of beer, CAMRA campaigns for real ales, real pubs and consumer rights. We are an independent and voluntary organisation where membership is open to all individuals (although not to corporate entities such as Breweries).

CAMRA aims to

Campaigns are run nationally, regionally and locally. Nationally, CAMRA produces the Great British Beer Festival, the Good Beer Guide, the Champion Beer of Britain Awards and the Pub of the Year Award. Thanks to our branch structure members have the opportunity to join their nearest division and campaign and socialise locally. Indeed, with around 200 branches throughout the UK there are regular local festivals, awards and guides produced across the country.

Such campaigns are financed through membership subscriptions, sales of products, and from the proceeds of the many Beer Festivals. CAMRA is a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee with accounts lodged annually to Companies House.

CAMRA Potteries contributes to this with annual events such as the Stoke Beer Festival and the Mild May Challenge, monthly Pub of the Month Awards, and the excellent quarterly publication - Potters Bar. If you would like to get involved then contact us here or become a member of CAMRA here.
