PUB OF THE MONTH
JANUARY 2011 - OLD SAL, SANDFORD HILL
The Old Sal is a large estate pub, owned by Marstons. The pub is situated in the area of Sandford Hill, which is on the outskirts of Longton and is easily accessible from both King Street
and Anchor Road. The pub is run by partners Matt Cartwright and Rich Higgins who came to the pub just under a year ago, after the pub underwent a major refurbishment.
As you, enter the pub from the car park, you find yourself in the huge, comfortable lounge, where there is regular entertainment at the weekends. Venture down a corridor and you enter the large bar area, which also acts as a games room, complete with pool table, dart board and traditional pub games facilities. Many of the old regulars have started using the pub again because of the nice friendly atmosphere and also to sample the fine collection of beers on sale at the bar. Real ales include Banks's, Marstons Pedigree and two rotating guest beers from the Marstons list. The licensees recently were awarded Cask Marque certification, which is a fantastic achievement for them.
As well as the ales the pub serves food all day, every day with a selection of special offers to tantalise your taste buds! The food is also very reasonably priced.
The Pub of the Month presentation is on Wednesday 5th January 2011 at approximately 8pm. So, come along to the Old Sal, Heathcote Street, Sandford Hill, ST3 5SN and have a great time.
