THE WEEK AHEAD 30 AUGUST - 5 SEPTEMBER
As Monday is the final Bank Holiday of Summer then why not take in one of the week's local Beer Festivals. Both the Gresley Arms in Alsagers Bank and the village of Audlem conclude their festivities with around twenty real ales hopefully still on offer.
Saturday sees activities switch to Cheadle as we conduct our Branch Meeting at the Queens Arms on Queen Street and the Cheadle Beer Festival (commencing Friday) is held at the Guild Hall on Tape Street. The gathering begins at 12.30pm and coincides with the Pub of the Month presentation at 2.30pm. The Arms is very much a traditional boozer having been built at the end of a row of terraced houses around 150 years ago, and is currently under a tenancy agreement between Punch and Helsey Inns. For further information have a peek at the latest edition of Potters Bar here.
Elsewhere in the locale is the third Annual Beer Festival to be held in Cheadle's Guild Hall. Despite its youth the event will include around thirty beers from local or independent breweries, a selection of English Wine and Cider, and live entertainment on both Friday and Saturday nights. Organised by Dave Edwards of Peakstones Brewery, the festival should feature ale of the highest quality and a full list of what's obtainable can be found here.
Going on sale this week are Advance Tickets to our very own Beer Festival in October. Priced at only £5, they guarantee entry to the ever busy Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening sessions. For a full list of venues where tickets can be purchased visit the Stoke Beer Festival mini site. Ensure you snap up a pass to gain easy access to the premier Beer Festival this year.
